2016 edition of Rhody Warm Blanket arriving just in time for fall

Posted

Now that fall is in the air it is time to think about keeping warm and ordering your own Rhody Warm Blanket.

More than 2,000 pounds of raw wool was collected by members of the RI Sheep Cooperative on June 5 at Maybe Tomorrow Farm in Chepachet. Immediately shipped out to be washed, it has just returned to Massachusetts where it is now being woven into to beautiful blankets. This wool is produced locally on farms throughout the state.  Each year a new pattern is chosen and given a name taken from a lost village in Rhode Island. This years’ pattern is a muted gray and natural large buffalo plaid in a herringbone weave.  This is truly a one of a kind local product.

The Rhode Island Sheep Cooperative is again sponsoring an essay contest to name the 2016 edition of the Rhody Warm Blanket. The essay contest is for any youth 18 years of age or younger, and the essay should be written about a "Lost Village" of Rhode Island. There is still time to participate in the “Name the Blanket Contest”.  More information and contest guidelines may be found at the RI Sheep Coop website.

Rhody Warm blankets are offered in a variety of blanket sizes: King, Queen, Full, Twin and Long Throw.   A  Rhody Warm blanket makes a unique gift for anyone, whether for a birthday, wedding, or Christmas present. These blankets sell out quickly.  To get the size you want order online now at the Rhode Island Sheep Cooperative’s website or by contacting participating farms.
