'Chicken Tournament' a success

A to Z Tourney a success once again

Posted

Crystal Lake Golf Club was the site of the 2013 annual A to Z Memorial Golf Tournament, also affectionately known as the “Chicken Tournament.” It originated as a group of employees from the Rhode Island Department of Human Services (DHS) playing a round of golf to honor departed DHS colleagues, from Jack Affleck to Rick Zannini, and all those in between.  Following golf, the players attend a chicken dinner at Wright’s Chicken Farm in Burrillville, hence the nickname. The annual outing evolved into a fundraiser for Project Undercover.  Project Undercover provides clean, new underwear, socks and diapers to children living in poverty. This year over 35 golfers played in the tournament, amongst them, current and former Department of Human Services employees. This year’s tournament raised over $1100 for Project Undercover.
