CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE

(Mindless chase

movie humor)

While intelligence isn’t central to this mindless chase movie, it will make you chuckle a few times.

Kevin Hart plays his patented frantic role as Carl, who was the guy mostly to succeed at Central High School, only to end up as a frustrated accountant. Twenty years later, his high school mate, “Fat Robbie” (Dwayne Johnson) crashes into his mundane life, changing it drastically.

Carl had saved Fat Robbie from total humiliation at a high school assembly, and the obese, bullied young man went on to change his life and get in shape as only The Rock could.

The rest resorts to a spy chase movie, where Robbie enlists Carl to save the world while being chased by the CIA and a bunch of bad guys. We are kept guessing until the very end as to whether or not Robbie is a good guy or a bad guy, and just how much danger Carl can handle.

It is all very silly and mindless, but if you enjoy Hart’s style of humor, he will have you laughing. There’s something about Johnson’s acting that we embarrassingly admit to enjoying. He looks and acts like he is on to the joke and is seriously putting us on. If you can go with that, sit back and enjoy.

There’s an appearance from a couple of popular actors near the end, and some dumb outtakes. Rated PG13, with some rear nudity, profanity, crude humor and violence, but less than you usually find in this genre.
