Cherry Hill Manor celebrates season at Summer Country Barbecue

Posted

No matter what the season, the fun-loving and energetic activities staff at Cherry Hill Manor always makes one of its themed-events extra special. And the group does so with unmatched smiles.

Take Tuesday’s annual Summer Country Barbecue, for example.

The day’s dress was all country – from boots to those iconic cowboy hats that on this day were mostly of the straw variety with colorful cloth additions.

Led by Tracey Cordeiro, Cherry Hill’s activities director, and assistant Loraine DiLorenzo, ladies like Becky Birch, Raisa Fernandez, Patricia Ferreira and Lynn Briggs, just to name a few, not only decorated the Manor’s classy dining room but also had everything from special table coverings to different colored balloons bouquets on each and every table.

In the middle of it all – as he always is in his unheralded role as chef – Vin Martino this time created what Cordeiro called “a marvelous, mouth-watering menu” that included pulled pork, baked beans, macaroni salad, corn bread and corn-on-the-cob.

And, as Cordeiro said: “No summer cookout or barbeque would be complete without watermelon, and Martino had plenty of that cut and chilled for the appreciative Cherry Hill Manor residents.”

Yet another plus was music, this time provided by Chuck Dee, who had a special keyboard and sound system set up on the spacious outdoor patio.

And that patio, Cordeiro announced, will be the site of Cherry Hill’s always-popular Summer Concert Series that begins at 6:30 p.m. tonight.
