Community comes together for JHS Summer Blood Drive

Posted

On Tuesday, July 7, Johnston Senior High School’s National Honor Society chapter hosted its annual summer blood drive.

Over the years, JHS has served as an exemplar in hosting numerous blood drives throughout the school year, accounting for high numbers of blood donations. The summer blood drive was no exception. With a total of 111 donors, the blood drive season has kicked off on a great start. The drive was held from 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and was open to the general public during these hours.

Additionally, members of the National Honor Society as well as the Junior National Honor Society were required to volunteer a minimum of three blood donors as our first community service project of the year.

With the guidance of advisor, Jean Picano, along with that of the student officers of the NHS and JNHS, as well as the dedication of all members, the blood drive proved to be a great success.

Not only were countless lives saved with these blood donations, but with this event came the display of our community coming together for a greater purpose.
