Cumberland knocks off Panthers in league opener

Posted

The Johnston wrestling team made a splash early last season when it tied perennial powerhouse Cumberland. The Panthers couldn’t pull off the same trick this year. Facing the Clippers in Thursday’s dual-meet opener, the Panthers – who are battling some injuries – fell 61-15. The Clippers won seven matches by pin to open the big lead. Johnston got pins from Tim Tedesco at 145 and Derric Vigeant at 170, plus a victory by Carson Kenny at 285.
