Dancing the night away at The Bridge at Cherry Hill

There was a small-scale, live version of television’s popular “Dancing with the Stars” recently in Johnston.

In order to hold such a high-energy event, staffers at The Bridge at Cherry Hill had to move all types of furniture inside the lobby before they could create a ballroom effect and show off the polished, hardwood floor.

“I love doing this,” said Debra Demar, director of sales and marketing at The Bridge, who participated in and coordinated the event. “This was part of our celebration of National Assisted Living Week, and our residents just absolutely loved it.”

As executive director Maryann Grace said, “the music was great, and these people really know how to dance.”

For nearly 90 minutes, three couples showed off a variety of special moves. As entertainer Frank Castle sang and played the keyboard – and the residents clapped along – the six dancers exchanged partners and event did several solo dances.

Demar, had seemingly endless energy, even danced one solo. The others taking part included Jody Rudnick and Cynthia Lacasse and Roy Gemma, Lenny Casacalenda and Norman Alix.

The event was one of seven The Bridge at Cherry Hill held in conjunction with National Assisted Living Week.
