Excitement in store at Johnston High this year

Posted

It’s that time of year again!

School is back in session for the Johnston students, faculty and staff. Many are sad to say goodbye to summer, but we here could not be more excited.

As fun as days spent at the beach, late nights and no homework were, JHS has a lot of exciting things in store for this school year. Being back in school means the beginning of fall sports! Our teams have spent the past summer practicing hard for their upcoming seasons. You can find out the game schedules for any of our sports at riil.org.

Something to look forward to this year would be the reveal of our new athletic field! Johnston High School is also in the process of building a new state of the art chemistry lab!

Since it is already September, that means float committee members are working hard to finish their homecoming floats that are due Nov. 8. There are a couple events coming up this month that are worth attending, like the Apple Fest. Many students from our school will be attending this two-day, carnival-like event located at Johnston Memorial Park on Sept. 20-21. There will a bunch of stands and tents that sell everything from fudge, fried foods and sweets to tie dye clothing, raffle tickets and games.

In addition, Sept. 20 is the Welcome Back dance for all JHS students. Tickets for this dance will be sold in school.

We hope everyone had a great summer, and here’s to an amazing school year! Good luck!
