A man whose Johnston residence was adorned with Nazi, Aryan Nation and white supremacist flags and banners is facing drug and weapons charges following a police raid last Wednesday.

Nicholas Colacone, 36, of 347 Simmonsville Ave., Apt. 201, is charged with possession of firearms by a person convicted of a crime of violence, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of weapons other than a firearm (brass knuckles).

According to Johnston Deputy Police Chief Daniel Parrillo, detectives began an investigation after a tip was submitted through the department’s website.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Parrillo said, members of the Johnston Police Special Response Team executed a search warrant at Colacone’s Simmonsville Avenue apartment, recovering two revolvers, two rifles and one shotgun. Other items found during the search include “several long knives, clubs, hammers, a bullet proof vest, brass knuckles, illegal narcotics, and assorted ammunition for all of the weapons,” according to Parrillo, and “other material evidence is still being analyzed.”

Colacone had been convicted in February 2000 of a felony count of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance.

Parrillo thanked the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Rhode Island State Police Bomb for providing assistance in the matter.
