The Johnston Parks and Recreation Department sponsored its annual Fishing Derby Sunday at War Memorial Park. The event, which was open to children ages 5 to 13, was hosted with the help of Save the Lakes RI. Parents helped out the children under 10 to hook the bait, but the kids were on their own once the lines were in the water. Prizes were given to winners in each of the age divisions.
