The Johnston/North Providence co-op team had a tough draw on the opening weekend of the hockey season but at least came away with something to build on after a rough first night. On Friday, the Cougars went against perennial Division II power Cumberland at Adelard Arena and lost 11-0. But the next night, JNP battled defending D-II champ Lincoln in a 5-1 loss. The team will try to get into gear this weekend when it faces Middletown Friday at 6 p.m. at Benny Magiera Rink in West Warwick. (Sun Rise photos by William Geoghegan)
