The 2013 Home Show, organized by the RI Builders Association (RIBA), will take place at the Rhode Island Convention Center today through April 7. Admission is $10 and tickets can be purchased at the door. Children 15 and under are admitted free.

The theme for this year’s show is, “Imagine. Create. Enjoy.” No matter the ultimate goal, from building a dream home to making subtle aesthetic improvements on existing structures, visitors can expect to receive a broad range of information that will spark ideas.

Best of all, visitors will have a one-of-a-kind visual aid to awaken their imaginations: a full-sized house built inside the Rhode Island Convention Center by a Johnston company.

The “Saco Bay” style house will be decorated by Karen Corinha, an interior designer from Mansfield, Mass. Corinha is collaborating with two Johnston companies on the project.

“Who wouldn’t want to collaborate with someone who has decorated the White House?” asked CRM Modular Homes Executive Director Carol O’Donnell.

Johnston-based CRM Modular Homes built the model house inside the event venue during the three days leading up to The Home Show.

Corinha was among a prestigious group of decorators and designers selected to “deck the halls” of the most famous address in America, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, for the 2011 holiday season. With 17 years of experience, Corinha’s design portfolio features clients mostly in New England and some as far west as Texas. For any project big or small collaboration is key, according to Corinha.

“The process started with reviewing the floor plan with the team at CRM Modular Homes. Then we had to figure out the resources needed to make it all come together,” she said.

Beth Champlin of Expressive Interiors in Franklin, Mass., has been assisting Corinha with identifying and securing those resources.

“The light fixtures are unique and eclectic and will help connect the look from floor to ceiling,” said Corinha, referring to those provided by Johnston-based J&K Electric and one specially crafted by Tracy Glover, a professional glass artist from the Ocean State.

Corinha’s design will be complemented by artwork courtesy of Providence Picture Frame and stylish furniture provided by Simon’s Furniture. The house’s front and backyard will be entirely landscaped, thanks to Rhode Island Nursery and Landscaping Association. Arnold Lumber will be constructing a full stone patio.

“I am decorating the house with coastal elegance in mind,” said Corinha. “We have been striving towards a look that is truly high-end and very current.”
