Johnston native launches sports representation agency

The ceremony simple and rather quiet, but for Johnston resident William “Billy V” Vigeant, it silently spoke volumes about his climb up the hard-to-crack sports agent market.

Vigeant, who is an accomplished actor, well-known sports promoter and owner of Good Sports & Entertainment LLC, has teamed with Gene Carlino – a principal in Providence-based Carlino Law Associates – to operate Above the Rest (ATR) Player Agency.

“We’re joining forces to formulate a premier professional sports representation agency and are based at 410 South Main St. in Providence,” Vigeant said last week. “We specialize in player representation, contract negotiation, marketing, corporate endorsements and public speaking engagements.”

With several pro football players already under contract, ATR recently announce its newest National Football League player – Tebucky Jones Jr., the son of the former New England Patriots star.

“Tebucky Jr. participated in the Tennessee Titans’ rookie mini-camp as an invitee and because of his hard work ethic – and more importantly, his dedication to the game – he is now a member of the NFL franchise,” Vigeant said. “This is exciting for both Tebucky Jr. and ATR. It’s certainly a memorable moment for everyone.”

Former New England Patriot and three-time Super Bowl champion running back and fullback Patrick Pass, as well as Rhode Island native and former East Providence High All-Stater and Boston College All-American Jamie Silva, who played with the Indianapolis Colts, are also under contract with ATR.

Perhaps even more impressive for Vigeant and Carlino is that ATR is now a certified contract advisor agent for the NFL, and is presently working with a variety of potential former and current professional athletes from Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League.

As for Jones Jr., Vigeant says, “he’s our kind of player; he starred at a small school and became one of the best wide receivers in the country. He proved himself on several fronts – most importantly, the Titans’ mini-rookie camp.”

Jones Jr. had back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons and closed out his highly successful college career at Fordham University in the Bronx, N.Y. He was an All-Stater at New Britain High, and because of that he was recruited and attended UConn before transferring to Fordham.

The 6-foot, 195-pound Jones Jr., who is the son of Tebucky and Janet Jones of Farmington, Conn., won many awards during his high school and collegiate career.
