Johnston residents give cars the ‘Luxury’ treatment

Luxury Auto Detailing has been open less than two months, but the Cranston-based business is already creating a buzz on the area’s business block.

That’s because co-owners Paul McAteer and Anthony Ferranti Jr., who both live in Johnston, have been getting their name out through a number of charity and community events. They hope new customers will spread the word, as well.

“We’re not going to operate your run-of-the-mill auto cleaning business,” said McAteer.

The 1,500-square foot facility is located at 2 Starline Drive off Plainfield Pike on the Cranston-Johnston line. The front lobby will soon become a showplace featuring a variety of car care products, leading the way to a 1,200-sqaure foot detailing shop.

For Ferranti, Luxury Auto Detailing is a dream come true.

The son of Anthony Ferranti, who owns Anthony’s Auto Body on Oakdale Street in Johnston, Anthony Ferranti Jr. has been reconditioning and detailing vehicles since he was 16 years old.

“I bring 20 years experience to our business,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to have my own business. Paul and I had been talking for a while ... then one crazy day we decided to do this.”

The McAteer-Ferranti team is already talking about expansion, hiring at least one additional full-time employee as well as purchasing a mobile unit that will offer detailing of boats at marinas. Ferranti is confident that they can meet the demand out there.

“We know our business. We’ll be known for quality workmanship. I personally am a stickler for detail,” he said.

McAteer, who is a longtime professional tractor-trailer driver for Cardi Construction, said customers could rest assured that they take their time on cars.

“We sometimes tend to spend too much time on one vehicle, but that’s our way. No car leaves here unless we are fully satisfied with the job,” McAteer said.

Ferranti Jr., who continues to work for his father’s Anthony’s Auto Body, echoed those sentiments.

“Your business is always judged by the quality of your work,” he said. “We pride ourselves in doing the best job possible for each and every customer. Every vehicle that comes in here is important. We don’t just wash and vacuum a car. We want to be known for our unmatched service.”

McAteer and Ferranti Jr. say they are looking forward to expanding their business and being involved in the community.

“We want to host a charity event this year,” said McAteer. “We’ve always helped those sort of events, now we want to have our own.”

Ferranti Jr. and McAteer offer various packages, including an Express Detail that includes 16 individual steps from wheel cleaning to complete vinyl detailing and UV protection. They offer odor removal and an Ultimate Detail program that requires 19 different procedures on one vehicle.

“We do full headlight restoration to spray-on bed liners for pick-up trucks,” Ferranti said.

“We’re also going to get into detailing motorcycles. That’s something that very few places offer. We will offer vehicle lettering and paint-less dent repairs, too,” McAteer added.

Luxury Auto Detailing will pick up cars, and once a vehicle is ready, customers will find two gift cards inside, courtesy of Al Castiglioni, Ferranti’s uncle who owns Chardonnay’s Restaurant in Seekonk and Meritage in East Greenwich.
