The third Kung Fu Panda movie should be popular with the young ones who will enjoy the antics of Po (voice of Jack Black). We adults found him to be very irritating.
If you saw the previous movies, you know that Po is the only panda around, having been raised by a family of geese. In this sequel, he finds his real father and discovers that he’s not the only panda on earth.
J.K. Simmons is the voice of Kai, a mean old yak who steals the chi (energy) from kung fu masters. Po is the only hope to stop him. There’s lots of running around and battles before it all gets wrapped up, with Po discovering his inner chi.
The movie is brightly colored and drawn and the kids seemed to love it. We found it tedious, but we’re not the target audience.
Rated PG with some bathroom humor and kung fu fighting.
