Joyful. If there was any one word that could capture the essence of Kittens & Cubs Day Care and Early Learning Center, it would be "joyful". The children, teachers and assistants here are all happy, engaged, busy and mostly, joyful! This child care center, located on the New Life Worship Center campus in Smithfield, personifies everything a parent whose commitments require them to trust their children to the care of others could want. This center is driven by a philosophy of virtue-based, time-tested values such as respect, love, patience, self-control and the Golden Rule. This overarching theme is exemplified by the dynamic threesome who administrate and teach at Kittens and Cubs, Program Directors Jessica O'Reilly and Gina Murray, and assistant Samantha Lisi. Their commitment to the goals of this early learning center is matched only by their enthusiasm, experience and excitement. Come tour this immaculate and cheerful facility and you will see why.
Kittens & Cubs Day Care was established in 1999. It now welcomes children from ages 6 weeks through second grade since becoming an Early Learning Center last year. The curriculum here strictly follows the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards and guidelines for RIDE (Rhode Island Dept of Ed.). Each classroom is thoughtfully designed to encourage age-appropriate learning and play, as well as to stimulate curiosity and teach socialization skills. Each room is sun-lit, orderly, spacious, colorful and inviting, with developmentally appropriate toys, activity centers and thematic creative areas located throughout. The primary goal of this center is to prepare its children with the full range of academic, social and emotional skills they will need to succeed as they progress through their years of formal schooling. On top of all the learning being done here, there is a genuine feeling of nurturing and care.
This program is not inviting and enriching by accident - it is the result of careful, up-to-date planning and administration. The teachers, several of whom have been here since the opening of Kittens & Cubs, continue to strive for their professional development. There is little turn-over amongst the staff here because the teams recognize the importance of fostering bonds of trust and security between caregiver and child. The partnerships between parents and children here matter deeply to Directors O'Reilly and Murray. If you are looking for loving, safe and "joyful" child care, contact them today - for summer care and for the upcoming school year before enrollment fills up!
