Lawmakers seek to boost Samaritans of RI with ‘Bow Ties Against Bullying’

State Reps. Robert Nardolillo (R-District 28, Coventry) and Robert Lancia (R- District 16, Cranston) are inviting all legislators, staff and pages to support their fundraiser for The Samaritans of RI by wearing a bow tie or scarf on Thursday, March 19.

Dubbed “Bow Ties Against Bullying,” Lancia and Nardolillo will donate $10 for each individual who participates.

“We can all agree that the cycle of bullying needs to be broken. Bullying is a problem that knows no boundaries and too many of our kids are victims of bullying everyday – in our schools, on social media and in public places,” Nardolillo said.

Lancia added, “‘Bow Ties Against Bullying’ is a great way to unite against this egregious behavior by supporting the work of The Samaritans of RI.”

The Samaritans of RI provides educational programs about bully awareness and prevention.

“For every legislator, staff member and page who wears a bow tie or scarf on Thursday, March 19, we will donate $10 to the Samaritans to continue their great work,” Lancia and Nardolillo said.

Photos will be taken on the House floor on Thursday.

“We hope to see a sea of bow ties and scarves in support of this fundraising effort to fight bullying. We’ll be pleased to announce the results on Friday, March 20,” added both representatives.
