Local Civil War historian speaks at Mohr Library

Posted

Local Civil War historian Less Ralston spent an evening sharing stories from his new book “Home of the Brave” at the Marian J. Mohr Memorial Library in Johnston on Monday, Sept. 15. Ralston has written many books about that era, and this one tells the story of 26 immigrants who fought in the Civil War and eventually received the Congressional Medal of Honor. Ralston says he writes in such a way as to make the reader feel the close connection with each person in the book the way he does. Each story is between four and 12 pages long. The Ralston lecture was one of the series being presented this year on the American Civil War at the library. (Text and photo by Charles Lawrence)
