Louis T. Folcarelli 88, of Johnston, passed away on July 6, 2013 at the V.A. Medical Center in Providence, surrounded by his loving family. Louis was the husband of Helen (Maggiacomo) Folcarelli.
Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Tomaso and Francesca (Damata) Folcarelli. Louis was a letter carrier in the Town of North Providence for 28 years before his retirement. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Union for 60 years. He was an Army Veteran serving in World War II and a member of the DAV Giovanni Folcarelli Chapter #1 for 49 years. He was State Commander of the DAV for the year of 1985-1986. He was the Quartermaster for the VFW Kelley-Gazzerro Post 2812 and also belonged to the American Legion Post 25 and ITAM Post #5.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Linda and Donna Folcarelli, both of Johnston. Louis was the brother of Anthony Folcarelli, Anna Caracciolo and the late Giovanni Folcarelli, Esq., a former Lieutenant Governor for the State of RI, and Thomas Folcarelli, Jr.
Funeral was held from the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rocco’s Church, Atwood Avenue, Johnston at 10 a.m. Interment with Military Honors was held in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours were Tuesday.
