Message hasn’t resonated, but fight must continue

To the Editor:

For over 20 years I ran for local offices including mayoral. I always preached the need for cost-effective government and thinking in terms of what is best for all the people including tomorrow’s generation.

I submitted countless local commentaries that highlighted the countless provisions in the contracts with town workers including annual costs and reforms that would cut our local taxes substantially. I have made many enemies in which I have been falsely persecuted, maligned and even threatened.

Also, I expressed the need for various reforms, i.e. a voter initiative process, developing forums for local candidates that would also reduce costs associated with running for office and putting the contracts and budgets on a database, akin to a search engine, that would enable residents to type in any questions in which the answers would be at their fingertips to see for themselves where all the money is truly going, just to name a few.

In addition, I expressed the need for conservative leadership to deal with welfare reform, getting realistic with illegal immigration, the effectiveness of school vouchers and getting tough on crime.

Well, my journey has now come to an end. Unfortunately, the above philosophy and ideology that reflects the true meaning of patriotism just doesn’t resonate as it should in our town via overwhelmingly voting in the same party and representation that know full well all the good that the above reforms would accomplish.

In closing, all the good folks who have supported me and other like-minded folks over these many years, I know we must never give up the good fight and always support like-minded candidates in the future. However, as for me I went above and beyond the call of duty and I’m all done trying to change the minds and hearts of others of our town. Therefore, for now, I’m all done submitting commentaries.

To end on a not-so-much optimistic note, the financial miseries that indeed lie ahead via ever increasing taxation that will continue to fuel inflation and undermine our financial freedoms, including future and creative taxation, i.e. user fees, supplemental taxes, taxing how many miles we drive our cars including putting up more toll booths, one day may take a toll on more residents in which things may turn around. Until then, may God continue in his patience. I must say, however, praise the Lord for all the good folks who overwhelmingly saw the light and voted in new leadership to Congress, including countless local and state races across our country.
