NERVE

(Teen Internet thriller)

Not particularly our cup of tea, But “Nerve” makes for a decent teen thriller.

With Pokémon Go being the latest fad, “Nerve” deals with a more dangerous game that has become the rage among the younger crowd…at least in the minds of the writers. The game is played over a 24-hour period, with participants choosing to be either a Watcher or a Player. Introvert Vee (Emma Roberts) decides to come out of her shell and become a Player.

The game starts simply as her I-phone instructs her to kiss a stranger, and then she teams up with Ian (David Franco) and goes to the city, where they are told to try on expensive cloths. The game becomes more intense and dangerous as the two defy death by working together.

There’s lots of tension and action, with a lesson about the potential dangers of the Internet, all leading to a dramatic, if a bit ridiculous, conclusion.

Rated PG-13, with some sex, profanity, nudity, drug use and violence, but also with some messages for youngsters about the dangers of the Internet.
