Nickle Creek Vineyard hosts Chamber’s Lipstick Luncheon

The North Central Chamber of Commerce held a unique farewell to summer during its recent Women in Business Council Lipstick Luncheon.

Although there was no luncheon – as the event was held during what’s traditionally known as “cocktail hour” from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. – the event was filled with Chamber members and newcomers who enjoyed the superb serene setting known as Foster-based Nickle Creek Vineyard.

“Nickle Creek is a hidden gem,” Deborah Ramos, the Chamber’s executive director, said while greeting ladies like Indy Ana Cantone and Jerri Moon Cantone of Jerri Moon Cantone Fine Art and Photography. “For wine lovers, this place is a must.”

Nestled into the picturesque woods of Foster, Nickle Creek Vineyard is a family owned and operated winery that specializes in handcrafted wines that offer uniqueness and quality.

During last week’s Lipstick Luncheon, owners Steve and Sherri O’Connor treated Chamber members and their guests to a sampling of wines and light appetizers such as cheese with crackers, Italian olives and meats, fresh strawberries, D. Palmieri’s pizza, Palermo Salumeria Italiano stuffed mushroom caps and Enchanting Cake’s decadent chocolate cupcakes.

“My personal favorite was Foster White,” Ramos observed while noting it “is light with a touch of sweetness.”

In all, the O’Connors offered a sampling of 10 different wines as well as a complimentary glass to each of the night’s attendees.

“This place is special,” Shar Dimaio of the Johnston Historical Society said.

Nickle Creek Vineyard is also a perfect place for people to learn about wine.

“It is our goal to foster and develop our customers understanding and appreciation of wine in a warm and inviting environment while exposing their palate to different tastes and blends,” Steve O’Connor told the night’s attendees. “While shopping for a new wine, we will provide you with information of suitable food pairings to enhance your personal wine experience.”

Each and every lady was impressed with the old country setting at Nickle Creek Vineyard. The O’Connors say that “as demand continues to grow for our premium wines, our case production and vineyard average will expand as well.”

To which Ramos added: “Nickle Creek offers fabulous wines that are reasonably priced. Their Pinot Grigio is wonderful and priced at $12.99 per bottle.”

Other wines that caught people’s eyes were Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, Summer Bayberry, Wicked Peach, Strawberry Blush and Raspberry Bliss.

“This was a great event,” Ramos said. “Our evening ended with some networking, which included many of the ladies connecting with good leads for them, and that’s always a good sign at any Chamber of Commerce event.”

In addition to this weekend’s 27th annual Apple Festival, the Chamber will have its September Business After Hours next Thursday, Sept. 25, at The Find on Route 6.

Ramos urged all Chamber members to bring a guest and check out the fabulous antiques at The Find on Route 6, located at 2953 Hartford Ave. in Johnston. For reservations, please call 401-349-4674.
