The Johnston softball team struggled through most of this season, but it finished the year on a high note this past Saturday by celebrating Senior Night.

Though the Panthers lost 11-1 to West Warwick to finish the season at 2-14, they honored their six seniors – Kurstyn McDougal, Danielle Gawlik, Victoria Cioffi, Sara DeSalvo, Lindsey Haskins and Ashley Peterson.

In the losing effort to the Wizards, pitcher Amanda Colombo struck out three batters, and the Panthers as a team collected four hits.

And with a number of young players on the team, there is plenty of hope for the future, as Johnston will try to rebound from missing the playoffs for the first time since 2008. (Sun Rise photos by Leo van Dijk / rhodyphoto.com)
