NEVER MIND

Patrolman Matthew Winsor and several other officers were dispatched to Binghampton Street for multiple 911 hang-ups there.

Winsor said police arrived to find a couple, who told the officers they had been arguing about the woman’s missing wallet. The man involved attempted to dial 911, but the couple said the argument never got physical. The man reportedly said he got upset when the woman accused him of taking her wallet.

Winsor said he then asked the man to empty his pockets to show he did not have the wallet, and the man did so. He didn’t have the wallet. In the meantime, a routine check on the woman came back with an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on a driving on a suspended license charge.

Clarissa M. Manning, 27, of 11 Binghampton St., was placed under arrest, and the man was dispersed from the residence. Winsor said officers were walking out to his cruiser when he spotted a black wallet on a snow bank outside the house. He confirmed that the wallet belonged to the woman, and it was returned to her. She was processed at headquarters and then transported to District Court.

BARREL TOSS

Patrolman David Loffler reported an incident of vandalism on Feb. 14 when a man showed up at a Johnston address to pick up his son.

The person who was watching the boy said that the man was supposed to be there at 9 a.m. but was delayed and didn’t arrive until 1 p.m. The caretaker explained that there was a no-contact order in effect for the man and the boy’s mother. The boy’s mother was not there at 9 a.m. when the pickup was scheduled, but by the time he arrived, she was in the house, although he did not see her.

Loffler reported that when the child mentioned that “Mommy is in the basement,” the man became irate and threw a trash barrel at a car in the driveway and broke the back window. The third party told Loffler that at no time was the man in contact or present with the child’s mother, but he was apparently upset that she was there without him knowing it.

Jay A. Lopez, 26, of 66 Ledge St. in Providence, was charged with on count of malicious property damage and turned himself in on Feb. 17.

HIT AND RUN

Patrolman Robert Cardoza reported going to Borden Avenue around 10 p.m. on Feb. 17 looking for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident on Hartford Avenue.

Cardoza said he found a man standing outside a car at 138 Borden Ave. and asked him who had been driving the car. The man admitted he was the driver and said, “I hit some car over on Hartford Ave.” Cardoza said a visual inspection revealed that both passenger side tires were flat and there was damage to the front bumper.

Mark T. Tyson, 59, was arrested and charged with hit and run and driving on an expired license, and later released with a summons.

FAR AFIELD

Patrolman Ryan Lemieux reported having a car towed from John Street during the storm-imposed parking ban on Feb. 15. He said the car was halfway into the street, and a check of the New Jersey registration revealed it was suspended. The plates were seized and Chuck and Sons Towing took the car.

WARRANT

Patrolman Adam Parkinson reported stopping a car on Killingly Street around 12:40 p.m. on Feb. 11 because the plates on the red 1998 Dodge should have been on a white 2004 Ford. He said the owner explained that it was a recent purchase and provided all the proper paperwork for the car.

Unfortunately, the driver had a warrant for a suspended license charge from the Rhode Island State Police. Richard A. Benoit, 49, of 592 Hartford Ave. in Providence, was arrested and processed and later transported to District Court.

ROBBERY

CHARGED

The Providence County Grand Jury charged Thomas Fallah, 28, of 17 Holloway St. in Johnston, with one count of first-degree robbery. They said the incident took place in Cranston on Aug. 29 of last year. Fallah will be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on March 4.
