The Police Log is a digest of reports filed by the Johnston Police. Chief Richard S. Tamburini or Deputy Chief Daniel Parrillo has reviewed all reports.

WARRANTED

Patrolman Michael Protano reports he was on a fixed post at 785 Hartford Ave. around 11:30 a.m. on June 19 when he saw a man that he knew was wanted in Superior Court for a drug charge out of Providence and a domestic disorderly charge in West Warwick. He said Daniel J. Choquette, 25, of 776 Hartford Ave. in Johnston, was arrested without incident and later transported to Superior Court.

EXPIRED

Sgt. Joseph Scichilone reports that he could not make out the month on a green registration tag he saw on a black Nissan on Greenville Avenue on June 19, so he ran the number. The plate was up to date, but the owner’s license came back as expired in March 2013. He said the driver also had no proof of insurance, so he was charged with driving on an expired license and having no proof of insurance and released with a summons.

BATTERY CHARGES

Patrolman Jared Deangelis reports he was dispatched to Armento Street around 3:30 a.m. on June 18 for suspicious activity. He met with a man who said he observed a car left running in front of his business and a man carrying what looked like car batteries to the vehicle. He said they approached the driver of the suspect car and asked him what he was doing. Deangelis said the man told them he was looking for his cat and was not up to any illegal activity, but they found two car batteries next to the car and three of them in the rear of the vehicle. He said the man admitted he had taken the batteries from vehicles and plow accessories nearby. Andrew H. Poland, 29, of 273 Greenville Ave. was arrested and charged with larceny. Deangelis said Poland had seven other charges on his BCI, mostly for drug-related offenses.

VANDALISM

Patrolman Derrick Palazzo reports an incident of vandalism at the Escada Bar at 39 Putnam Ave. on April 30. The owner of the bar told Palazzo one of her regulars told her a man identified only as “Anthony” had carved various letters and shapes on several walls in the men’s room. She told Palazzo she went outside and found the man smoking a cigarette and confronted him about the vandalism and he replied, “Oh well, guess I can’t come back here then, huh?” and then walked east on Putnam as she returned inside and called police. She also had surveillance of him going in and out of the men’s room. She said he always paid his tab in cash, so she had no record of his real name but said she would recognize him if she saw him again. She said she would press charges and Palazzo forwarded his report to detectives. The suspect was later identified as Daniel M. Jordan, 31, of 19 Esmond St. in Smithfield. Johnston Police got a tip that he was at the Sky View Motor Inn and Patrolman Michael Andreozzi reported he found him outside room 107 and arrested him without incident. He was later released with a summons for District Court.
