BASEBALL ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Nick Raposo

Nick Raposo gets the nod for Baseball Player of the Year because of his offensive and defensive efforts this spring.

He was arguably the best defensive catcher in the state during his senior season, and his offensive production paced the Panthers.

The Johnston captain batted at a .444 clip in 18 regular season games, scoring 24 runs and swiped seven bases.

Raposo helped to lead Johnston into the Final Four after a season in which the team compiled a record of 13-5.

Unfortunately, the Panthers would get swept at McCarthy Field by state runner-up South Kingstown.

Raposo will continue to play baseball at Division III power Wheaton College next season.
