Several large pieces of demolition equipment filled Memorial Park as the one-time Parks and Recreation Office was torn down to make room for a new facility. J.R. Vinagro Corporation, a Johnston company, did the entire demolition job.
This is the only remaining portion of the Johnston Parks and Recreation building inside Johnston War Memorial Park, as a demolition team this week knocked down the storied facility. A fire raged through the building in October and the facility was condemned. The demolition will clear the way for what could become a two-floor recreation center/office.
