Students to show gratitude during Teacher Appreciation Week

Posted

Teachers at Johnston High School go the extra mile for their students. Whether they are spending countless hours after school or trying five different ways to explain a concept in class, these teachers always give their best effort when educating students.

During the week of May 4-8, teachers will be recognized for all they do. This is known as Teacher Appreciation Week. Starting on Monday, teachers will be given fruit kabobs from the sophomore class, and the World Culture club will be holding a raffle for teachers. To follow that, on Tuesday, each teacher will be gifted a candy pencil provided by the junior class, the Yearbook Club will raffle off a free yearbook to one lucky teacher, and the football/basketball cheerleaders will present cookies.

Then, on Wednesday, May 6, teachers will receive pizza and Kool-Aid from the senior class, gift bags given by the Autism Group, the Chemistry Club will donate seeds and a donation for Wounded Warriors, and finally the Web Club and Mock Trial plans to prepare dessert trays.

On Thursday, teachers will be delivered calzones from the freshmen class, brownies gifted by National Honor Society, as well as “spring cleaning” via the Majorettes and Newspaper Club.

To end the week on Friday, Student Council will host a teacher luncheon where they will enjoy home-cooked dishes made by members of council, wondies from the soccer/hockey cheerleaders, and a complimentary car wash.

Teachers provide an entire year of exceptional education, and Teacher Appreciation Week is only a small gesture to those who prepare students for the future.
