Shakespeare on the Mount

Ariana Pacheco of Johnston and Austin Mazza-Venditelli of Cranston are participating in Shakespeare on the Mount’s summer production of Macbeth which will be performed at Mount Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket and the Courthouse Center for the Arts in West Kingstown.

Shakespeare on the Mount is a summer Shakespeare program open to young adults ages 13-21. It is independent from, but in conjunction with the Mount Saint Charles Academy Fine Arts Summer Camp which is held every July for students from any school who are entering grades 5-10. Shakespeare on the Mount services students from all over Rhode Island and local Massachusetts communities looking to expand their knowledge of theatre production and to learn to present professional level work.

The program’s goal is to teach each student what it means to work on a team and creatively manage and solve problems in a work environment. Doing this through an annual theatre production, the students can grow within the company for up to eight years learning and teaching their peers. The collaborative effort of creating a theatrical production teaches management skills and creative problem solving at a high level while still being accessible.

Audiences can expect the unexpected when they to see Macbeth which is playing July 11 through July 14 and July 18 through July 21 on Thursday through Saturday at 7 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Sundays in Mount’s Bell Tower Theater (800 Logee Street, Woonsocket).  Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors. (Be advised that this show is not recommended for audience members under 13 due to violent content). For reservations, call 769-0310 or email Jason LeClair at jasonrobertleclair@gmail.com.

Did You Know?

Ever wondered why some fireworks are blue and others are red? It's all in the chemicals. Copper produces blue sparks, while a mix of salts and other substances make red. Barium yields a green glow, and sodium burns yellow.
