Town welcomes Personal Touch Car Wash

There are few car washes, if any, that rival the new Personal Touch Car Wash Express located at 504 Killingly St. in Johnston.

The equipment inside the unique, 140-foot tunnel – which features Spin-Lite ultra light foam as well as Spin-Dash LED lighting – is the newest technology, and one of only six units of its kind in the country.

Perhaps even more impressive is that owners Vin Porzio and Dominick D’Agostino – who own and operate car washes in four states – invested $3 million to build the 7,000-sqaure-foot facility on a once-vacant, two-acre lot.

“I’m absolutely ecstatic to have a state-of-the-art business like this in Johnston,” Mayor Joseph Polisena said during Saturday’s official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. “Vin and Dominick have enhanced the appearance of this entire area. This is without question one of the best, if not the best, car wash facilities in New England … We’re honored that you have put your faith and trust in Johnston.”

Porzio and D’Agostino – who also have another location at 1827 Mineral Spring Ave. in North Providence, and are looking to expand further into the Rhode Island market – took their investment to what Polisena called “an unheard of and amazing level.”

“They’re so concerned about the safety of their customers and people in general,” Polisena said. “They had a traffic light installed, at their expense, on Killingly Street right in front of the car wash entrance. We are proud, and again really appreciate, Vin and Dominick being business partners with our town.”

Several customers who had just had their cars washed and pulled up to the row of 23 vacuum hoses outside were surprised and excited to learn that Personal Touch does not charge for vacuuming.

“The use of our vacuums is free when the car wash is open,” said Steve Sause, the company’s director of operations and general manager. “And we’re open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.”

Others inquired about a number of offerings at Personal Touch, ranging from interior super cleaning to upholstery shampooing and even headlight restoration. Manager Danny Ward said the location also offers detailing, and he highlighted the customer waiting room.

Sause pointed to the workings of the car wash itself, noting that the “only thing that touches your vehicle is foam.”

“There are no brushes here,” he told a customer. “We have 14 arms that feature Spin-Lite ultra light foam. There’s not a single brush or cloth in the tunnel … This process is almost like getting a hand car wash. It’s the newest technology in the industry.”
