Vows renewed

On May 28, 1949 Ben and Vilma Zanni exchanged their wedding vows at St. Rocco’s Church in Johnston, with the late Father Angelo Susin officiating. On Sunday, May 25, 2014, they renewed their vows of 65 years at Our Lady of Grace Church in Johnston at the 8:30 a.m. Mass. Officiating at the Mass were the most Rev. Robert C. Evans, Auxiliary Bishop of Providence; Pastor Peter J. Gower; and Father Alfred Almonte. Also in attendance were their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. Immediately following the Mass, a breakfast was served at their home attended by approximately 70 guests. Also present was Johnston Mayor Joseph Polisena, who presented Ben and Vilma with the key to the town of Johnston and an official commendation. Ben and Vilma have 6 children, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one on the way. Pictured, from left, are Ben and Vilma Zanni, the best man and Vilma’s brother, Frank Croce, and Rev.
