Angelina Russo, 92, of Victor Avenue, entered into Heaven on Friday, September 1st.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Celestino and Grazia (Cocciardi) Russo and she was a resident of Johnston for most of her life. Angelina worked for many years at the Leesona Corporation in Warwick and upon retirement she worked for former Providence Mayor Vincent "Buddy" Cianci as part of Citizens for Cianci. Her role in the organization involved planning and conducting fundraisers and parties for the Mayor. She had attended Providence schools and was a firm believer in the importance of education. This was evidenced by her pursuit of knowledge in the areas of Italian, fashion and real estate. Her flair for style was well known. Angelina was deeply religious and was a lifelong communicant of Our Lady of Grace parish where she served as a catechist, a Eucharistic minister and a member of the St. Ann Sodality society. Her other passions included travel, reading, dining out with friends, the arts and following politics.

Her greatest pleasure in life came from spending time with family. She leaves her brother, Michael G. Russo with whom she made her residence and her beloved nephews, Gregory Russo, Charles Russo and his wife Karen (Mollicone) and Robert Russo and his wife Isabelle (Paes) all of Johnston. The apples of her eye were her grand nieces Taylor and Sophie Russo. She was the sister of the late Dr. Vito Russo and his wife Julia (Manzi). She leaves many friends that she cherished spending time with including Pauline DelVecchio, Karen Fandetti and Margaret (Peggy) DeFelice.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Road, Johnston on Wednesday, September 6th, 2017. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Respectfully Omitted.

In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Our Lady of Grace Parish Memorial Fund. For messages of condolence, see andersonwinfield.net
