CO-WRESTLING ATHLETES OF THE YEAR: Brad Testa, Elijah Burgess

Johnston juniors Elijah Burgess and Brad Testa are the Co-Wrestling Athletes of the Year after they both posted fifth-place finishes at the state meet in their respective weight classes.

Burgess competed at 160 pounds and won his first match before falling to the consolation bracket with a loss to Moses Brown’s Abe Bloom. He then won three consecutive matches, ultimately winning the fifth-place match, 6-3.

Testa competed at 138 pounds, and he worked his way into the fifth-place match, where he would defeat Coventry’s Noah Young, 9-3.

Testa and Burgess will be back to make runs at state titles next year.
