Elite NBA trainer Rob McClanaghan, who has worked with Steph Curry, Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook and more, will host a youth clinic April 14-15 at his alma mater, Bishop Hendricken High School. The two-day basketball clinic is open to boys and girls, 10 to 17 years old.

“Rob came with great praise from other players on the engaged style of his training,” said MVP Curry. “He gets out and defends and bangs with the players, adds a presence to his workouts that gets a little more out of you.”

Known as the NBA’s “workout guru,” McClanaghan has been featured in Sports Illustrated, USA Today, Complex and NBA.com. Considered one of the most instrumental people behind the scenes in the league, he creates comprehensive training programs for serious, results-driven players.

McClanaghan’s instruction is geared to bring each player’s on court skills, game-situation knowledge to the next level.

McClanaghan will incorporate some of the same drills he runs with his NBA clients, in his upcoming clinic at Hendricken. The clinic is designed for players looking to refine their skills.

“The goal of the clinic is to enhance a player’s skills, improve their conditioning and increase their knowledge of the games,” aid McClanaghan, whose roster also includes Derrick Rose, John Wall and Candace Parker. “We’re going to work hard, but we’re going to have a good time.

“My schedule is extremely busy. I rarely have the opportunity to host a youth clinic at home in Rhode Island,“ he said. “I am really looking forward to it.”

McClanaghan, who grew up in Cranston and graduated from Bishop Hendricken, was a walk-on at Syracuse University.. After playing in three NCAA Tournaments and winning a Big East Championship, he went on to coach basketball at the University of South Florida before exclusively preparing players for the NBA Draft and regular season. He has now been training the NBA’s elite for more than a dozen years.
