Ernest G. Pappas, 96 of Providence and Highland Beach, RI and Pompano Beach, Florida passed away Monday September 3, 2018 at Kent Hospital, Warwick. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Mihailides) Pappas for 73 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Gust and Georgia (Stevens) Pappas. Ernest, a restauranteur, was the son of the founder of The Original N.Y System located on Smith Street in Providence. He was a United States Navy Veteran. He enjoyed fishing and boating on Narragansett Bay. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, was a 3rd degree Mason, an active member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, singing in the choir and President of the Order of AHEPA.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Georgia Jean Pappas and one son, Gus Ernest Pappas and his wife Joanne. He was the brother of the late Arthur Pappas.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service Tuesday Sept. 11th at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Annunciation, 175 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston. Burial will be private. Visitation Monday 4-7 p.m. in “Woodlawn” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston.
