First Student drivers deliver holiday goods to Graniteville school

Posted

Every year around the holidays, Johnston First Student Dispatcher Kim Rigney organizes a food drive with the drivers and office staff along with the Johnston School Department monitors and aides to help local families in need. They have helped The Early Childhood Center and Thornton in the past and this year they decided to help The Graniteville school community.

With everyone’s help at the bus yard they collected enough food to deliver several boxes to the food drive being held at Graniteville organized by Julia Bernardi, Pre-School Special Educator with the assistance of Mrs. Andrews, School Clerk.

A driver also donated 40 $10 gift cards from Stop & Shop to assist with the purchase of the turkeys. Shaw’s donated a $25 gift card as well.

Brad Verdi, Location Manager for First Student and Maria Petronio-McAfee, Graniteville Principal were both overwhelmed and extremely grateful how everyone came together to support such a great cause.

While everyone at the bus yard participated in the food drive, not everyone was able to make the delivery. Listed are the people who helped deliver, including Brad Verdi, Kim Rigney, Dan Hicks, Joselyn Aviles, Rita Bell, Terri Borders, Jude Cyrius, Joanne Ravo, Lisa Annicelli and Nancy Illiano
