LARCENY

Eric Black, 21, 66 Huber Ave., Providence, was arraigned on a felony charge of larceny over $1,500 on the morning of March 17. Black had his surety bail set at $1,000 and his pre-arraignment conference was scheduled for June 8.

Black’s arrest stemmed from an alleged incident that occurred the morning of Sept. 9, 2019. Patrolman Derick Ofori responded to a report of a larceny of an ATV, and upon arrival he spoke to the complainant. He said he left his house the day before and upon returning home, he noticed the door to his detached garage was halfway open. Upon checking inside, Ofori said, the man discovered his 2019 Yamaha Raptor 700R was missing.

Ofori noted that the man had the keys in his possession and stated that he last saw the ATV inside the garage on Sept. 7 at around 9 p.m. He said he did not know of anyone who could have stolen the ATV, and he did not have any surveillance cameras around his home. DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Patrolman Kevin Brady said that a woman responded to police headquarters on the evening of March 21 to report problems she had been having with a man living down the street from her.

The woman told Brady that Antonio Simoneau, 41, 126 Greenville Ave., Johnston, constantly yells profanities at her when he walks by her house.

On the above date, she was notified by her landlord that Simoneau came to her house knocking on the front door, allegedly shouting that, “I know you went to the cops,” with an expletive at the end. Subsequently, Brady responded to the address and spoke with Simoneau, who Brady said called the woman a “crazy [expletive]” and that she doesn’t like when he walks his dog down the road.

Brady said that, when he asked Simoneau if he could remain in his house and she could remain in hers and keep the peace, he said, “I can’t make any promises.”

Later, Brady was dispatched back because Simoneau had allegedly driven his car past her house and said, “Try it again, you [redacted].” The woman said her 10-year-old son was present and witnessed Simoneau’s actions.

Brady said that, as he exited his car, Simoneau came down his front steps towards him saying, “Here we [expletive] go.” Brady said Simoneau was visibly intoxicated and was swaying as he walked and slurred his words. Brady said he continued to yell, saying “Come on, try to lock me up” while Brady was trying to have a conversation with him.

Brady said Simoneau yelled so loudly that neighbors began to look on and inquire about what was taking place. He said if Simoneau could not contain himself and speak in a less threatening manner, he would be arrested for disorderly conduct. He laughed, clenched both fists and took a fighting stance, Brady said. Simoneau then reportedly said, “OK, lock me up, I wanna see you try.”

At this time, Brady said he instructed Simoneau to place his hands behind his back because he was under arrest for disorderly conduct. Brady said that, as he took hold of Simoneau’s left arm, he dropped to his knees and placed his right hand under his stomach, stopping Brady from putting him in handcuffs.

Brady said he was able to subdue Simoneau and secure both his hands in cuffs. He was subsequently transported to police headquarters, processed and released with a Third Division District Court warrant.
