“It’s as American as apple pie” is an oft repeated sentiment, one that comes to mind especially at this patriotic time of year. What could be more fitting than to celebrate the birth of our country with something “as American as apple pie” ~ APPLE PIE? And where can Rhode Islanders find some of the best apple pie this far north of the Mason-Dixon line? Why none other than at Juliana’s Italian Bakery in Johnston, of course!
Juliana’s Italian Bakery is home to some of the best baked goods around. This is a bakery where fans of this great nation, with its perfectly blended batter of different culinary influences, will find baked goods that rival any across our great state.
This week, as you prepare for your Fourth of July celebrations, make your way to Juliana’s Italian Bakery. Why not “WOW” your guests with a homemade apple or blueberry pie or with a tray of delicious “party pan pizza” and golden-brown calzones (without heating up your own kitchen!) Why not elevate your picnicbaskets with sandwiches made with slices of Juliana’s crusty, home-baked bread?
If you don’t feel like laboring over the oven in next week’s predicted heat wave, run to Juliana’s Bakery right now and order platters of cookies, brownies and cupcakes. There are many varieties of these tempting goodies to choose from including classic chocolate chip, peanut butter, and oatmeal raisin cookies and chocolate brownies, blonde brownies and cream cheese brownies. There are eclairs and pastries of every kind as well as cannolis dusted in powdered sugar and stuffed with sweet, creamy filling. (And don’t forget about the pies!)
Juliana’s Italian Bakery is literally a “paradise” for anyone with a sweet tooth or a hankering for anything fresh-out-of-the-oven of its talented owner, Lee Hall. Lee has been a baker nearly his entire life. He started working at some of Rhode Island’s most iconic bakeries while still in high school. It was there where he first got his hands in the dough that would one day literally become his “bread and butter!”
Twenty-seven years later, Lee opened Juliana’s Italian Bakery where he begins baking his large selection of baked goods every day before dawn. He prepares everything with love, passion and very high standards of excellence; everything is made from the highest quality of ingredients, nothing sparing.
Juliana’s Italian Bakery was named after Lee and Heather Hall’s oldest daughter Juliana. Sixteen-year old Juliana is big sister to siblings Jacob and Jayla. If you are lucky, you might see her smiling face behind the counter this summer! This is a family business where everyone, including Lee’s dedicated staff, plays a part in its success.
Juliana’s Italian Bakery is located at 1551 Plainfield Pike in Johnston. Hours are Tuesday – Saturday, 7am to 6pm, Sundays from 7am to 5pm. (Closed on Mondays).
