Key to the Campus

In a show of appreciation now that the Citizens Bank Campus on Greenville Avenue is complete, Mike Knipper, head of property and an executive vice president at the bank, presented Mayor Joseph Polisena with a commemorative Key to the Campus last Thursday, along with a special green Citizens bocce ball.

“The mayor has been a great help to us through all of this,” said Knipper.

The bank created an entire sports complex at the campus that is open to the public, including two bocce courts. The mayor and the bank’s CEO, Bruce Van Saun, have been touting their skills at bocce ever since. A bocce “grudge match” is planned this fall between Van Saun, Knipper, Polisena and Governor Gina Raimondo.

Knipper presented the mayor with the key and bocce ball for his “enormous help and support” during the more than two-year-long campus construction project.

“Bruce Van Saun better start practicing his bocce skills, because I’m going to take his lunch money. This key, does it open the bank’s vault?” joked Mayor Polisena.
