Learning from our past

To the Editor:

The 1960s were a terrible time in our nation's history, marked by the Vietnam War, the assassinations of President Kennedy, Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy. John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King, all men of peace and all three men involved in the civil rights movement. Young and vibrant, all three were killed by an assassin's bullet in the prime of their lives. All three who wanted to change the world and make it a better place for everyone to live.

Let us not forget what they stood for and what they represented. Fifty years later has the world changed at all? We still live in a world of violence and oppression. We must learn from our past leaders and in our own way try to make the world a better place. All lives matter.
