After an undefeated regular season in 2016, the Johnston girls’ soccer team is off to a strong start once again this season, with its latest triumph coming via a 10-0 rout of Providence Country Day on Monday to improve the Panthers to 3-0.

The Panthers have flat out dominated in the early going in 2017, outscoring opponents 27-1 through their first three games, netting double-digit goals in two games, and the smallest margin of victory thus far has been five goals.

In the Panthers’ win over the Knights, junior striker Bianca Robbins paced all scorers with five goals, while Gabriella Scarcella, Gabriella Sauro, Grace Muller, Emma Salzillo and Shelee Lastor all chipped in with a goal apiece. Hailey Gaunt stopped all six shots she faced in net to secure the shutout.

Johnston has also defeated Mount Pleasant, 11-0, and Narragansett, 6-1.

Robbins currently leads the state in goals with 13 and points with 15.

Johnston is one of four teams at 3-0 within the division, with Davies, Lincoln and defending Division III champion East Providence remaining unbeaten.

The Panthers will be back in action tonight, when they host Shea (1-2) at 6 p.m.
