DRIVING ON SUSPENDED LICENSE

On Sept. 14 at approximately 9:10 a.m. Kolawole Badru, 28, of 66 What Cheer Ave. in Providence, was charged by Patrolman Michael Schiappa for Driving with a Suspended License – 1st Offense. He was originally pulled over for driving without his seat belt, which is he was also issued for. He was released from the scene, which was on Plainfield St., with a court summons.

On Sept. 14 at approximately 5:52 p.m. Patrolman Merrick Cook responded to the report of an accident that had left no one injured on Hartford Ave.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the accident was identified as Isabella Bianchi, 19, of 12 Golini St. in Johnston. Bianchi was driving on a suspended license and her car had a cancelled registration. She was also driving without insurance.

Bianchi was charged with Driving with Suspended License – 1st Offense and was released from the scene, after her plates were seized and her car was towed, with a court summons.

On Sept. 15 at approximately 10:00 a.m. Patrolman Michael Schiappa pulled over Arthur Lepore, 37, of 65 Sunset Terrace in Cranston, on Putnam St. for not wearing a seat belt. System checks revealed that Lepore was driving on a suspended license, which Lepore admitted to when he was first pulled over.

Lepore was charged with Driving with a Suspended License – 1st Offense and released with a court summons.

On Sept. 15 at approximately 4:14 p.m. Patrolman Louis Cotoia responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Leading St. and Killingly St. The driver of one of the cars was found to have a suspended license, and that was her fourth offense for that charge. She was transported to the police station and held awaiting arraignment.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA

On Sept. 11 at approximately 4:07 p.m., while on patrol on Killingly St., Lt. Joseph Salvadore pulled over an unregistered vehicle. The driver first gave the officer a false name, but through system checks he was found to be Julio Diaz Liberata, 21, of 216 Lenox Ave. in Providence.

Liberata had an active warrant out on him from Cranston Police for obstructing a police officer. Liberata was taken into custody without incident.

While conducting a search of Liberata’s vehicle, the Lt. found what was later tested to be 54 grams of marijuana.

Liberata was taken to police headquarters, and was held there until he was later picked up by Cranston police. He was charged by Johnston PD with Possession of Marijuana (Misdemeanor), Obstructing Officer in Execution of Duty, Driving without a License, and Driving in Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was given court summons for those charges.

RECKLESS DRIVING

On Sept. 12 at approximately 9:15 p.m. Patrolman Arthur Petteruti observed a Honda Accord lose control of its car as it made a right-turn from Atwood Ave. to Plainfield Pike, skidding its tires out.

The patrolman put on his car’s lights and attempted to pull the car over, but the car continued driving on Plainfield Pike at about 25 m.p.h. and made a right turn onto John St. It then turned onto Pleasant St. and pulled into a driveway.

The patrolman made contact with the driver, who was identified as Luis Valez, 21, of 26 John St. Apt. #2 in Johnston. Valez was removed from the driver’s seat and placed in handcuffs. System checks found that he was driving on a suspended license. Valez was taken to police headquarters and his car was towed.

Valez was charged with Reckless Driving – Eluding a Police Officer 1st Offense as well as Driving with Expired License – 1st Offense. He was given a court summons for the charges.
