Doctors at work

Posted

Students in Mrs. Leone’s and Mrs. Martino’s fifth-grade classes at Brown Avenue Elementary School participated in a classroom transformation in which they dressed as surgeons and engaged in various academic activities focusing on English language arts, math and science. Ms. Karen Disandro led a group of students who are dissecting text and responding to passages in order to demonstrate comprehension, while Mrs. Debbi Sgambato helped a group of students focusing on the importance of asking probing questions to enhance comprehension. Melissa Martino, a physician assistant student from the Bryant University PA program, worked with a group of students discussing pathflow of blood through the heart and taught the students surgical hand tying.
