Free Craft Bash Saturdays in Cranston

Families are welcome to join The Artists’ Exchange for free crafts at Artists’ Exchange on the last Saturday of every month. Craft Bash themes are not only designed to be fun art activities for kids but also enriching learning opportunities.

The expressive arts can work as a tool for strengthening skills in all disciplines by offering alternative ways to think about core subjects. Many art projects unknowingly have ties to math, science and history.

By exemplifying these concepts throughout the project, kids can build their art skills while learning cross-curricular information at the same time. Remember, Craft Bash is free and open to all ages and abilities. Artists’ Exchange is located at 50 Rolfe Sq., Cranston. For more information, call 401-490-9475 or visit www.artists-exchange.org.

Book Sales

Members of the Friends plan and run book sales and carry out other fundraising activities to allow Mohr Library to increase services and programs. The Friends welcome new members who are willing to support either through donations, membership dues, or through volunteering their time. To find out more, contact them, or call the library director at 401-231-4980 (press 7).

There is an ongoing book sale in the lower level hall across from the meeting room. The Friends also hold larger sales two or three times a year. Great selections at great prices include hard cover and paperback books, fiction and non-fiction, for adults, children, and young adults. Most prices range from $.25 to $2. The Friends are a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, with proceeds from fundraising supporting library programs and services.

Donations of gently used books are appreciated and can be left at the library's main desk during library hours. Receipts for tax purposes are available.

Did You Know?

The summer solstice always occurs between June 20 and June 22, but because the calendar doesn't exactly reflect the Earth's rotation, the precise time shifts slightly each year. This year, summer will begin June 21, when the sun will reach its greatest height in the sky for the Northern Hemisphere at 11:54 a.m. Eastern Time. (Source: Summer Fun Facts)
