Gary Gosselin, the long-serving CEO of Shannon Motors, is about to make a small gesture of thanks that will have a huge impact in the Rhode Island and Massachusetts commuties his car company has served for four decades.

It’s officially called “The Kids Bike Giveaway Contest” that will make Christmas merry for 25 children.

“We’ve been proud to provide financing and vehicles to Rhode Island and Massachusetts residents through the years,” Gosselin said Tuesday afternoon while chatting with his Marketing Director Jason Aleman. “This holiday season we’re hoping to make this Christmas a little more special for some local children.”

Gosselin sat inside his Johnston store at 648 Killingly Street and announced details for the Shannon Motors First Annual Bike Giveaway Contest that will conclude with a special presentation of bicycles and helmets on Sunday, Dec. 16 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. when Santa Claus comes calling. There will be snacks and refreshments for the winners.

“We’ll be giving away those 25 bikes with helmets to those children in need of a bicycle but cannot afford one,” Aleman explained. “We’re asking people to identify those children on our Facebook page.”

Aleman said “simply identify what makes a certain child in your life so amazing on the Facebook page and they’ll become eligible to win a bicycle and helmet.”

Gosselin announced that “Our (Shannon Motors) managers will chose the lucky winners and pickup for the bikes will take place at our Johnston store on Sunday, December 16 between 12 noon and 2 p.m. Here’s wishing all of our customers, family and friends a safe and wonderful holiday season.”

Aleman said people with any questions about the Bike Giveaway Contest should call 273-0110 for more information or visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ShannonMotorsRI.
