Stage Door Theater Company announces its summer production of “You Do Not Want to See a Nun at the DMV, ” a comedy written and directed by Eugene J. Celico, to be performed in Wilcox Park on July 22, 23, 24, & 25 with performances starting at 6:30 p.m. and including a 15 minute intermission.

The story begins when Sister Mary Rita and Sister Mary Sybil go to the Division of Motor Vehicles in Cranston, RI to renew Sister Rita’s license. All of the usual challenges, frustrations, and nonsense inherent in a regular trip to the DMV are present, from difficulty finding a parking space to long lines and the wide cross-section of humanity just trying to (legally) get to work and the grocery store. The Sisters’ responses to these stresses are familiar and predictable, with the added facet of trying to remain calm and accepting as one might expect a Nun to be. It only gets funnier when they are joined by two more Nuns from their order (with additional instructions from the Reverend Mother), as the four attempt to endure the seemingly eternal wait for their number to be called.

The play features the talents of Mary Sue Frishman, Ellen Atwood, Alyssa Christian, and Nancy Young.

Admission is free, with donations welcome. For more information please call Eugene J. Celico at 401-426-0848. For cancellation concerns, please call the Library at 401-596-2877.
