Taso’s attracts 125 bikers for charity ride

“Bigger and better” is what Thomas “Tommy Taso” Thomaidis was hoping the second annual Taso’s Motorcycle Run/Car Show would be. Thankfully, the forecast cooperated and a record 125 motorcycles turned out to support the Johnston restaurateur Sunday, as he raised money for local charities.

“I want to thank each and every person who helped make this year’s run a success,” Taso said Sunday after he rode 68 miles on his motorcycle and served breakfast and lunch to dozens of riders.

While a fundraising total was not available as of press time, proceeds from the event will be donated to the Johnston Police Explorers Post 405, Make-A-Wish Foundation, two Johnston children who are cancer survivors and the Johnston Community Center Association.

The day also included a car show, several different raffles including the 50/50 and even a raffle for a motor scooter with proceeds going to abused animals.
