Meet Ben, an amazing fourth-grade student at Thornton Elementary School in Johnston. He is 10 years old, and described as kind, intelligent, funny and thoughtful to others. Ben has made his school proud by truly embracing Thornton’s motto "kindness matters" by generously donating $100 to Pennies for Patients. Ben donated his monthly allowance to help children with leukemia and lymphoma. When asked why he donated so much to the cause, Ben said "It feels good to help people with cancer, especially children!" His class also raised the most amount of money at the school through their efforts. Sheri La Fazia, parent involvement coordinator, added that they are so proud to have an amazing young man inspiring other students to help. (Submitted photo)
