Truth of Obama's legacy

Posted

To the Editor:

While the media continue to champion the legacy of Barack Obama, President Donald J. Trump is rapidly trying to end or overturn a few of his more significant disasters, such as heath care and illegal immigration.

And what exactly was his legacy? Could it be described as the decline of his own party, a lackluster economy and the appeasement of dictators, and a world in chaos and disarray? A nation and a world where hate seems to be the watchword of the day.

Obama claims his economic policies created the longest streak of job growth in our history, and today nearly every American has access to the Affordable Care Act. He claims to have reestablished U.S. leadership, leading with diplomacy and partnering with nations to meet global problems.

Truth be told, Obama’s economy has left millions of Americans behind. A recent Gallup study found that there was no economic recovery under his leadership. And his many regulations, including those of Obamacare, have simply helped to make the economy more anemic due to the massive economic cost to the American taxpayer.

Perhaps the media should tell the truth and shame the devil by actually attempting to write the truth about this legacy of ineptness that normal thinking Americans were forced to contend with for eight long years. And even today the two who had the most to lose, Obama and Clinton, are still behind the scenes trying to pull strings to embarrass President Trump. Have they no shame?

    Mr. Cervone.

With respect, I believe the Obama presidency was a success. I define "success" as the ability to accomplish one's goals. With President Obama, there were three primary goals:

    1. Expand the nature and role of the federal government.

    2. Make as many citizens dependent upon government as possible.

    3. Fundamentally weaken the country.

Under President Obama, the federal government inserted itself into everything from gender specific bathrooms to making sure that the Little Sisters of the Poor had taxpayer funded access to birth control.

Under President Obama, the number of Americans receiving food stamps doubled, while Social Security disability recipients tripled.

Under President Obama, national security took a back seat to political correctness. The Rules of Engagement for our military became a quagmire of legal idiocy, while our enemies laughed at us.

If accomplishing one's goals is the definition of success, President Obama will be near the top of the list of Most Successful Presidents.

In my mind, Obuma will forever be known as the commander in chief who coined the strategy of 'leading from behind'. I doubt they will be teaching this masterful strategy at West Point any time soon. While not a fan of the current president, his undoing of Obuma's worst policies can only improve our situation.

The fact that Obuma and Hillary are pulling strings to weaken Trump is not unbelievable at all. Hillary and the Clinton machine were always known for attacks on their perceived enemies. Her characterization of her hubbies victims as bimbos and her attempt to ruin them personally speak volumes. Her hatred is a main reason she didn't get the top job. Obuma comes from the land of thug politicians in Chicago. His team proudly proclaimed 'the Chicago way' when dealing with their opponents. For those of you who don't follow politics, the 'Chicago way' involves any dirty trick in the book to undermine the opposition. So, no surprises here.

What you say is so true and in answer to your question - you're right they don't know the meaning of shame. But Trump is "draining the swamp".
