Winning at any price

To the Editor:

Normally, I support the rights of free enterprise/business to be free from government interference as to how they conduct themselves in most areas.

After I read the Fox News story with the below headline, (also the following link), my opinion remains basically the same: individuals do have a right to ask for and get as much compensation as they can get.

"Roger Goodell reportedly requests $50 million salary, lifetime private jet in contract talks" - Fox News 12 Nov 2017

www.foxnews.com/sports/2017/11/12/roger-goodell-reportedly-requests-5 0-million-salary-lifetime-private-jet-in-contract-talks.html.

However, if this situation is not an example approaching private corruption what the hell is?

The ability of the NFL to generate their huge cash flow is due, in great part, to the availability of the public airwaves. These are the same airwaves where we saw the denigration of the United States flag and anthem.

Roger Goodell has demonstrated a deep lack of common sense and respect for our national institutions as he vacillated about the deplorable deportment of many NFL players. He played both sides and did so in an apparent effort to retain and expand the accoutrements of his office.

Good sportsmanship is never achieved by winning at any price; especially so when the proceeds of the price lands in one guys pocket.
